Description

The Celestron 1.25 Eyepiece and Filter Kit is a great way to expand the functionality and enjoyment of your telescope. Inside the metal, foam-lined carry case youll find these accessories:

32 mm Plossl Eyepiece - 1.25
17 mm Plossl Eyepiece - 1.25
13 mm Plossl Eyepiece - 1.25
8 mm Plossl Eyepiece - 1.25
6 mm Plossl Eyepiece - 1.25
2X Barlow Lens - 1.25
#80A Blue Filter - 1.25
#58 Green Filter - 1.25
#56 Light Green Filter - 1.25
#25 Red Filter - 1.25
#21 Orange Filter - 1.25
#12 Yellow Filter - 1.25
Moon Filter - 1.25
Eyepieces - All five Plossl eyepieces can be used in any telescope with a 1.25 focuser. Each eyepiece features a four-element design with a 52 apparent field of view. The optics are fully multi-coated to improve light transmission and protect the optics. The 32 mm Plossl eyepiece offers a low power, wide field view in most telescopes, the 13 mm & 17 mm focal lengths are good medium-power oculars, and the 8 mm & 6 mm eyepieces provide high magnifications, great for the Moon and planets, especially when seeing conditions are good.

2X Barlow Lens - The included, and very versatile 2X Barlow doubles the magnification of any 1.25 eyepiece. Since this kit includes five (5) eyepieces, you will be able to use them with and without the Barlow, giving you a total of ten magnification options in all. Any other 1.25 eyepieces you already have will also work in this desirable accessory, giving you even more magnification choices. Remember, high magnifications do not always produce clear, sharp results, especially on evenings of poor or moderate seeing conditions. Experiment to find the magnifications that are best for your telescope on a particular night.

Filters - Colored filters can be used to bring out certain details on a planets surface or its cloud structure. All of the planetary filters included in the 1.25 Eyepiece & Accessory Kit, as well as the Moon filter, can be used on any 1.25 eyepiece with the proper filter threads, so they are very versatile. Just screw one onto your eyepiece of choice and slide it into the focuser.

The Moon filter is one of the first accessories most new amateur astronomers buy, and for good reason! It helps block out a portion of the light the Moon sends into your eyepiece so that you can see details better. You can also try this filter on Venus; it blocks enough glare so you can observe the planets phases more easily.

Metal Case: The sturdy metal carry case has die-cut foam inside to protect and cushion your accessories. Store each one in its appointed place when not in use and youll keep them looking and performing like new. The case is even large enough to carry a few extra accessories. Just pull out enough of the foam cubes to make a nest for your eyepiece, camera adapter, etc. A tight fit is better, so remove the least amount of foam possible before testing the fit. You can always remove more if you need to.

3. Celestron 1.25" Moon Filter

Feature

Reduce glare and increase contrast of the Moon with the Celestron 1.25" Moon Filter
Also useful for extra bright planets as well as terrestrial viewing over sand or snow
Threads onto most 1.25" eyepieces in seconds

Description

The Moon has the distinction of being the most often viewed celestial object through backyard telescopes. It is undoubtedly beautiful and mysterious, and is one of those constants in our lives that connects us to every other being on our planet. Regardless of who we are or where we live or travel, we all look at the same moon. It is difficult to look at the Moon through a telescope and see all of the details due to its brightness. Our eyes are not ready for the bright beam of light that emits from the eyepiece, and they stop down, just as they would when you step out into the sunlight on a bright summers day. When were in the sunlight, we often wear sunglasses. They help us relax our eyes, protect us from glare, and help us see things more clearly. When amateur astronomers observe the Moon, we use a moon filter. A Celestron Moon Filter provides similar benefits to those of sunglasses...our eye relaxes and opens up to let us see more detail. This is especially important when observing the Moon when it is near full. The Celestron Moon Filter simply screws onto the insert barrel of most 1.25 eyepieces. It only takes a second or two to transform your regular eyepiece into one suited for lunar observations. A Moon Filter is also helpful when observing Venus or bright terrestrial scenes. This filter is not suitable for viewing the Sun.

Celestrons Mars filter combines the advantages of red and blue filters in a single filter to bring out a wealth of detail while allowing maximum light transmission for brighter views. This high quality glass filter contains multiple coatings to maximize light transmission in specific wavelengths, bringing out incredible detail of the Martian surface. Eyepiece filters reduce glare and light scattering, increase contrast through selective filtration, increase definition and resolution, and lessen eye FATIGUE. To attach the filter onto an eyepiece, simply thread the male thread on the filter into the bottom of the eyepiece barrel. Then insert the eyepiece (with filter attached) into eyepiece holder of your telescope. Get ready to see Mars in incredible detail. Observe Mars this summer as the planet will be noticeably brighter from early july through early September (july 7th to September 7th). the best night to view Mars is july 28, 2018. The last time Mars was this close to the Earth and this bright in the night sky was the opposition of 2003. The next opportunity like this wont come around until 2050. This is a perihelic opposition, which means both Earth and Mars are close to the sun, making conditions ideal for astrophotography. At opposition, Mars will be 1.8 times brighter than Jupiter and the 4th brightest object in the sky after the sun, the Moon, and Venus. At its closest approach to Earth on july 31, Mars will be 35.8 million miles from US.

Telescope eyepiece filter transmits only 13 percent of the incoming light, boosting contrast and ability to discern detail on the Moon
Perfectly neutral color will not alter the natural color of the Moon

Description

We are able to see the Moon at night thanks to sunlight reflecting off its rocky surface. When looking at the Moon through a telescope, bright reflected sunlight can produce significant glare. The Moon's disk, even at partial phases, is in fact so intensely bright with reflected sunlight that observing surface details can be challenging due to the overwhelming glare. This glare can be so bright that it washes out most of the interesting lunar features such as craters, rilles, mountains, and valleys. The considerable brightness also reduces contrast on our nearest neighbor in the solar system. To improve contrast and tone down glare easily, we recommend using a neutral-density 1.25 inch Orion 13 percent Transmission Moon Filter. This inexpensive accessory threads directly into a 1.25 inch eyepiece barrel and blocks 87 percent of the light gathered by the telescope, making for more comfortable lunar views exhibiting higher contrast. Once installed on a 1.25 inch telescope eyepiece, the Orion 13 percent Transmission Moon Filter will bring out considerably more lunar surface details thanks to the boosted contrast. Not only will more surface features and details pop out, but you can study them in greater comfort, thanks to Moon Filter reducing overall brightness without altering color. This neutral-density telescope eyepiece filter reduces irradiation, which is the distortion at the boundary between light and dark areas, such as along the lunar terminator. Using a Moon filter also helps conserve dark-adapted vision while viewing the lunar surface, especially when using big telescopes with 6 inches of aperture and larger. The Moon is one of the most interesting objects in the night sky to observe through a telescope. Its rugged surface is a feast for the eyes of amateur astronomers, with fascinating craters, mountainous highlands, and large, dark lunar seas formed by ancient volcanic activity.
