Place English Ivy in low light or shade. Locate the plant in a room with average temperatures of approximately 75 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 65 degrees during the night. Water English ivy whenever the top one-half inch of potting mixture feels dry to the touch. Water deeply until water trickles through the drainage hole, and allow the pot to drain thoroughly before replacing it on a drainage saucer. Never allow the pot to stand in water. Spray English ivy lightly with water once or twice every week during dry weather. A light mist removes dust and keeps the plant hydrated. Fertilize the plant every month during spring and summer with a general-purpose fertilizer for indoor plants. Withhold fertilizer while the plant is dormant during fall and winter. Additionally, withhold fertilizer if growth slows during hot weather. Prune English ivy lightly as needed to keep the plant tidy and to maintain the desired size and shape.
