It is used in many furnaces, forges, kilns, glass working fixtures, industrial processing machines and ovens, drying platens, heating element supports, as a soldering iron rest, and for covering crucibles and reaction containers containing molten materials. It is used to back up brick castables, for flue linings, expansion joints, conveying molten metal, and for dryer lining. Our board is MADE IN THE USA. This board is made by vacuum forming refractory fibers and an organic binder. Upon initial use above 400-500F, the organic material will turn the board brownish and burn out giving off a slight odor.
